FAQ

  • Renovations can sometimes reveal unexpected issues that affect your budget. In older homes outdated plumping or electrical systems may need upgrading to meet current Australian standards. Hidden water damage or mould behind walls and under floor is also common, especially in Bathroom and Laundries and may only be discovered during demolition. Structural problems, such as rotten subfloors or damaged framing, can also add to costs.

  • Bathroom and Kitchen renovations typically deliver the highest return on investment for Melbourne homes. Upgrading these spaces enhances functionality, modernises the home, and appeals to buyers or renters. Other value-adding renovations include Wardrobe and storage upgrades, creating open-plan living areas, and improving outdoor living spaces.

  • Labour is generally the biggest investment in a bathroom renovation, but it’s also where the value lies — choosing experienced, qualified trades ensures the job is done properly and built to last. Beyond that, the overall cost can increase depending on the design choices and scope of work. Factors that can influence the budget include:

    • Moving plumbing or adding extra plumbing points

    • Rewiring or relocating electrical fittings

    • Tiling all walls from floor to ceiling, or selecting natural stone and specialty tiles

    • Custom-made or specialty ordered items such as vanities, tapware finishes, or shower screens

    • Structural changes, such as removing or altering walls

    • Premium fixtures like freestanding baths, smart toilets, or underfloor heating

    • Unexpected issues uncovered during demolition, such as water damage or outdated plumbing

At the end of the day, the most important thing is balance — we’ll guide you on where it’s worth investing and where you can save, so you get a bathroom that feels luxurious, functions beautifully, and fits your budget.

  • This depends on the extent of the renovation. Once we have analysed your project our detailed estimate will give you definite start and end date so you know exactly how long it will take. Standard bathroom construction should take up to 3 - 4 weeks. We do advise to allow contingence for things ‘we can’t see.’

  • Yes—it often makes sense to tackle more than one space at once. Renovating your kitchen, bathroom, laundry, or powder room together can:

    • Save on costs: Trades are already on site, which reduces call-out fees and downtime.

    • Streamline the process: Less disruption overall compared to doing each space separately.

    • Create flow: Designing multiple rooms together ensures a cohesive look and style throughout your home.

    • Finish faster: You get everything done in one go, instead of stretching renovations out over months or years.

If you’re planning to renovate your main bathroom and ensuite at the same time, we can even organise a portable ensuite so you’re not left without facilities during the project.

Of course, it depends on your budget, lifestyle, and whether you’re comfortable living through a bigger renovation. We can help you weigh up the pros and cons for your home.

  • Start by defining your goals, think about how you use the space and what you want to achieve. Set a realistic budget that includes materials, fixtures, labour, and a contingency for unexpected issues. Measure your space carefully, and plan your layout to maximise functionality and flow. Choose durable materials, quality fixtures, and a cohesive style that complements the rest of your home. Finally, engage licensed trades, prepare for surprises like hidden water damage or outdated wiring, and schedule the work so everything runs smoothly.

  • When renovating a bathroom for seniors, safety, accessibility, and comfort are the top priorities. A professionally managed renovation ensures the design is both functional and stylish. Key considerations include:

    • Walk-in showers: Easy entry with non-slip flooring and minimal steps

    • Grab rails and support bars: Discreetly integrated for safety and confidence

    • Non-slip surfaces: Tiles and flooring chosen to reduce the risk of falls

    • Accessible vanities and toilets: Height and design tailored for ease of use

    • Good lighting: Bright, layered lighting to improve visibility

    • Wider doorways or open layouts: To accommodate mobility aids if needed

    • Clear the kitchen: Empty cupboards, pack away pantry items, and remove anything from benchtops so we can get straight to work.

    • Set up a temporary kitchen corner: A kettle, toaster, or microwave in another room can make life easier during the renovation.

    • Protect adjoining spaces: If your kitchen flows into open-plan living or dining, consider covering nearby furniture to minimise dust.

    • Relax—we’ll handle the rest: We coordinate all trades, timelines, and installations so you don’t have to worry.
