Some homes call for subtlety — this was not one of them.
Our client loves colour and heritage details, and from the very beginning, the brief was clear: “a peacock explosion.” Bold, layered, and full of personality, the design needed to celebrate colour while still functioning beautifully for a growing family.
Originally a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home, the renovation reconfigured the layout into a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house to better support family life. Alongside improved functionality, each space was designed to feel immersive — rooms that feel like experiences rather than just practical areas.
The entry and hallway introduce the palette softly, with neutral paint paired with hand-painted floral wallpaper featuring birds and butterflies. This gentle backdrop hints at the layered colour and character waiting further inside.
Family Bathroom
Created for two young boys, the family bathroom balances playfulness and timelessness. A marble floor tile sets the tone, layered with smaller gloss wall tiles to add depth and reflection. The walls and ceiling were colour-drenched in soft green, creating a cohesive envelope of colour. Heritage copper ADP tapware and cabinetry balance classic detailing with practical function.
In contrast, the ensuite embraces a richer, moodier palette. Marble-look floor tiles with purple and burgundy undertones pair with high-gloss burgundy wall tiles, while contrasting purple grout adds subtle interest. Deep taupe walls tie the palette together, and matching ADP tapware and cabinetry create continuity with the family bathroom.
The laundry combines practicality with personality. ADP cabinetry in Feather Grey and a natural stone benchtop provide durability and texture. A mosaic floor tile and large-format blue floral splashback add colour and pattern, visually connecting the space to the rest of the home.
By layering colour, texture, and heritage-inspired details, this renovation has created a home that feels expressive, bold, and deeply personal — all while functioning beautifully for family life.
